2023 has been a weird year – wonderful that we were able to expand to 12 hives and still get a delicious honey crop from our bees, but frustrating due to weather which really limited what plants our bees could get to, and caused many of them to decide to swarm throughout the summer.
With the help of our great friends, neighbours and customers at the markets we attended, we have now sold out of honey! It has been so great to get feedback from people enjoying the two very distinct seasonal honeys the bees produced, and it inspires us to try to expand a bit further next year.
With expansion in mind, we are looking for some fields to place bees in the Liverpool area. If you have a couple of accessible acres that you wouldn’t mind sharing with some bees, let us know! (tiddleybee1@gmail.com). I am hoping to group more hives together this year as it is easier to protect them from bears – but with their kind permission, I will keep hives at our current locations to have a variety of nectar sources available.
Thanks again to all who supported Tiddley Bee in 2023. Queens is an amazing community with wonderful people – we feel very lucky to be here!
